Apple iOS 15 update download: Apple has officially rolled out its latest iOS 15 update and iPhone users can move to iOS 15 easily. The company first unveiled iOS 15 earlier this year at its Worldwide Developers Conference. Apple has put a big focus on the privacy of users with this update. The new version of iOS also scans your photos for text. Notifications have a new look, including contact photos and larger app icons to make them easier to identify.

The major update is that 'FaceTime calls' will now extend beyond Apple devices, so anyone can join a call from their web browser on Android and Windows devices. Apple also introduced ‘SharePlay' that will help users focus and be in the moment with new ways to manage notifications and quickly access information.

iOS 15 takes Maps even further with brand new ways to navigate and explore. Users will experience significantly enhanced details in cities for neighbourhoods, commercial districts, elevation and buildings, new road colours and labels, custom-designed landmarks, and a new night-time mode with a moonlit glow.

Now you can choose outfits for your Memoji and express yourself with new stickers. Represent your look and style with multi-coloured headwear. And accessibility customisations now include cochlear implants, oxygen tubes and soft helmets. Multiple photos in Messages now appear as a collage or an elegant stack of images that you can swipe through. Tap to view them all as a grid or add a quick Tapback. And save them to your library with just a few taps.

iOS 15 comes with an interesting feature which is known as Live Text in photos. This will further allow users to copy numbers and text in a picture. Live text will work in Photos, screenshots, Safari, and in the Camera app. There is a new feature named Spotlight that shows users more information at a glance with new rich search results for artists, entertainers, TV shows, and movies, as well as your contacts.

Not to be confused with iOS 14.8, which was released last week to address a security vulnerability, iOS 15 adds new features to various iPhone generations. The latest operating system also provides several features customized for Indian users.

  • The Apple Messages app now has much-needed customizations. Users can now choose whether or not to receive notifications for the three main types of messages in the app. Now, notifications from unknown senders, transactions and promotions can now be turned off.

  • Apple has introduced support for the UPI payments app from the camera. In simpler words, users can scan UPI-base QR codes in the camera app. This is particularly useful if you have many UPI apps installed on your phone and want to scan directly from the camera.

When scanning QR codes, Apple will let customers select up to ten of their most frequently used UPI payment apps.

  • Siri will now recognise requests that include English as well as other regional languages. Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam and Punjabi are among the languages supported.

  • For Indian users, iOS 15 introduced new dictionaries. Urdu–English, Tamil–English, Telugu–English, and Gujarati–English are now supported bilingual dictionaries.

  • As part of the Smart Replies feature, Apple is introducing support for ten new Indian languages. Urdu, Bangla, Tamil, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Odiya are among the languages supported.

  • If you're one of the few users- Indian or others- who hasn't increased their iCloud storage above the free 5GB, you'll appreciate this new feature. When a user purchases a new device, they will be able to transfer their data via iCloud Backup. Even if your iCloud storage is minimal, this will work.

  • Apple will provide consumers with "as much storage" as they require to facilitate the data transfer. At no additional cost, the temporary backup will be valid for three weeks.

  • India will have its own Air Quality maps, which will be available in the Maps app.

FaceTime upgrades FaceTime will include spatial audio, which will make people's voices appear to come from where they are on the screen, making video chats feel more realistic and lifelike. FaceTime will also begin to resemble Zoom, with the ability to see all participants in a grid format, plan calls and share call links that can be accessed via browser on Google Android and Microsoft Windows devices. iMessage sharing features Photos, news articles, and playlists can now be shared via iMessage in iOS 15. When a friend gives you many photographs via iMessage, they'll show in a dynamic collage format that you can swipe through or tap to view all of them in your photos app. In your News and Apple Music apps, you'll also find news stories and playlists shared via iMessage. Apple Maps update More elevation data, road colours and driving directions are added to Apple Maps, along with rich labelling, 3D landmarks, and better night mode. You can also pin local public transit stops and station information to your iPhone and Apple Watch devices for automatic updates and notifications as you travel and approach your stop. When walking, a new virtual reality feature allows users to use the iPhone's camera to scan nearby buildings in the area to identify their specific location for more accurate walking directions. Maps might also take into account weather warnings when recommending routes.
